In the winter of 1981, with snow whirling and the wrongdoing rate taking off, New Yorkneeds somebody to bail keep out the chill. Cometh the emergency, cometh Abel Morales and his warming oil business. Spirits is a worker upstart with his eye on the prize; a sharp-suited sales representative pursuing the American dream. His future's so brilliant its going to blast into flames.a Most Violent Year, fittingly enough, comes charged as the spunky untouchable in the pending Oscar race, a film determined to unseat the huge top choices. Like Morales, the situation is anything but favorable for it. But, in the same way as Morales, JC Chandor's period wrongdoing dramatization is thorough, clever and as brilliant as a whip. It unquestionably can't win; its excessively nuanced and serious. However its vigilant strategic battle remains a delight to see.
