In spite of the fact that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 lawfully integrated the South, segregation was still wild in specific ranges, making it extremely troublesome for blacks to enroll to vote. In 1965, an Alabama city turned into the battleground in the battle for suffrage. In spite of vicious restriction, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (David Oyelowo) and his supporters pressed forward on an epic walk from Selma to Montgomery, and their endeavors built up and finally finished in President Lyndon Johnson marking the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
